The Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences at the University of Tampere, Finland, has conferred Professor Pierangelo Metrangolo an honorary doctorate

In recognition of contributions to the research fields of supramolecular chemistry and halogen chemistry as well as long-standing interdisciplinary collaboration on photoactive and self-assembled materials.

The title of Honorary Doctor is the highest recognition that a university can award. At a ceremony last June, the University of Tampere awarded 13 honorary doctorates, in recognition of excellence and exceptional scientific, artistic or social merits.

Pierangelo Metrangolo is Professor of Chemical Foundations of Technologies at the Politecnico di Milano, where he has been the Rector's Delegate for Sport Activities since 2023. At the Department of Chemistry, Materials and Chemical Engineering “Giulio Natta” he coordinates the Laboratory of Supramolecular and Bio-Nanomaterials (SBNLab). Since 2016 he has been responsible for the Interdepartmental Laboratory of Nanomedicine (NanoMedLab) and since 2021 a founding member of the Interdepartmental Next-Generation Advanced Materials (Next-GAME) Lab of the Politecnico di Milano. His expertise spans the fields of Crystal Engineering, Supramolecular Chemistry and Biomimetic Materials, within which he has carried out intense research activities whose impact is widely recognised internationally.
