Descrizione dell'iniziativa

The Istituto Comprensivo Alberto Da Giussano – Spiga Campus and Porta Nuova Campus in Milan will launch, between February and May 2026, the Fiaba 4.0 Project, a theatrical performance involving children from first to fifth grade in the creation of costumes designed on the basis of the children’s original drawings. The project includes, for each participating POLIMI student:

  • the design and production of approximately (up to a maximum of) 10 costumes made of calico (toile), inspired by the Tangram philosophy (simple geometric shapes, reduced dimensions suitable for primary school children);
  • optional participation in the project launch at the two school campuses;
  • optional participation in the costume colouring sessions together with the children;
  • a series of half-day sessions on Friday mornings between February and May, dedicated to costume production under the supervision of the teaching staff in the Fashion Lab.
All required materials (calico fabric and any additional supports) will be provided by the Istituto Comprensivo. Although the activity involves only minimal garment construction, it is highly educational: it requires the ability to visually translate children’s drawings with design sensitivity—a process that, in some respects, recalls Bruno Munari’s approach. A digital pamphlet documenting and narrating the design experience will also be produced.
