MSc in Management of Built Environment

The Master’s Degree Program focuses on the management of built environment, i.e., the set of activities aimed at ensuring the maintenance and adaptation over time of the performances of real estate assets, in order to maximize their profitability and market value.
The management of built environment is increasingly becoming a strategic area of development, influenced as it is by a variety of factors such as the growth of investments in existing assets rather than new constructions, the improvement of building quality standards, the adaptation of building systems to regulatory frameworks, the value of real estate for financial markets, the spread of new models for valorizing real estate assets (including those of historical and cultural value), the new challenges posed by the fight against climate change and the demand for housing, as well as the importance of circular economy issues and the adoption of digital technologies in building management.
The Master’s Degree in Management of Built Environment, which is particularly innovative and unique in Italy, is aimed at training to-be professionals in the fields of property management services (facility management, asset management, and property management) and the digitization of the construction sector on an architectural and urban scale (digital twin, BIM, big data, IoT, advanced sensor technology, etc.).

In response to job-market demand, the degree program provides interdisciplinary training that combines technical and economic knowledge useful for exercising managerial skills in the processes of conservation and valorization of real estate assets.

The Master’s Degree Program offers the possibility to choose between two different tracks, which share some basic topics but are characterized by specifically targeted teachings: one focusing on economic and financial management, and the other on technical and operational management.

Students coming from different degree programs initially undertake studies aimed at developing basic knowledge of building management and later proceed to deepen their knowledge of architectural technology, architectural engineering, building production, and management engineering, as well as topics related to the urban and economic aspects of the built environment and the management of cultural heritage. During the last semester, students enjoy the opportunity to consolidate the knowledge they have acquired through internships and the preparation of their final theses.
