From humanities to engineering
Eleonora Panzeri is 24 years old and comes from Cernusco Lombardone, a small town in the province of Lecco. After completing her Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Production Engineering, she chose to continue her studies by enrolling in a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, specialising in Micro and Nano Systems.
Panzeri is one of the 16 recipients in 2025 of a scholarship dedicated to the memory of Roberto Bertazzoni, who passed away last year. A donor to Politecnico di Milano for many years, Bertazzoni helped support the Master’s degree programmes of many deserving young people. Today, his heirs have taken up the baton, continuing this important initiative in support of the talents of the future with dedication. A gesture that brings together memory, value and vision.
Eleonora says:
I enrolled at Politecnico di Milano almost by chance and with quite a few reservations, because I came from a humanities background. But, following the example of my brother, who is also a mechanical engineer, I decided to challenge myself in the technical and scientific field, which had always fascinated me.
With excellent results: candidates for the Bertazzoni scholarship are selected on the basis of their academic record, while the final allocation takes into account both academic results and the financial circumstances of the students. For Eleonora, it represented an important recognition: “Receiving this scholarship was a great source of satisfaction for me, as well as confirmation of the value of the path I had pursued with commitment and determination.” She adds that the financial support allowed her to give back, at least in part, to her family for the sacrifices they made to help her reach this milestone.
Since 2022, Politecnico di Milano has been able to award 16 scholarships each year, named after Roberto Bertazzoni. The scholarships are intended for students enrolled in all Master’s degree programmes at the Schools of Politecnico di Milano.
