1. Entrance test
You can access the program by taking the TOL (Online Test) test and/or one of the following alternative tests:
- TOLC-I (provided by the Interuniversity Consortium for Integrated Access Systems - CISIA www.cisiaonline.it), test administered in Italian;
- CEnT-S (provided by the Interuniversity Consortium for Integrated Access Systems - CISIA www.cisiaonline.it), test administered in English;
- SAT (provided by The College Board www.collegeboard.org) test administered in English.
2. Language skills
For Italian-taught programmes
If you wish to enrol in an Italian language programme, you must demonstrate Knowledge of the Italian language before enrolment.
You can fulfil the language requirement if you have:
- citizens of Italy, the Republic of San Marino, or Canton Ticino
or - a high school diploma or higher, obtained in Italian language;
or - an appropriate certification of Italian language proficiency at level B2 from the CLIQ (Certificazione Lingua Italiana di Qualità).
Note: Knowledge of English is not an admission requirement, but it is necessary to continue and complete your degree programme. If you do not demonstrate knowledge of English, you will be assigned the OFA ENG, which entails certain study limitations.
For English-taught programmes
to access degree programs taught in English, you must demonstrate knowledge of the English language before enrolling.
You can fulfil the language requirement if you have:
- citizenship of a country where English is the official language;
- an educational qualification, at least upper secondary level, obtained in English;
- an appropriate English language certification as specified on the webpage: www.polimi.it/studenti/requisiti-linguistici
Note: Knowledge of Italian is not an admission requirement, but you must obtain a B2 level before completing your degree programme.
You can demonstrate your knowledge of the Italian language if:
• you take a TOL or TOLC-I with a score of at least 30/100;
• you are a citizen of Italy, the Republic of San Marino or the Swiss Canton of Ticino.
• you hold an educational qualification, at least upper secondary level, obtained in Italian.
If you do not demonstrate knowledge of Italian, you will be assigned the OFA in Italian.
