CHAR:ME, recovery and transformation of organic waste

Project made possible thanks to 5 per thousand donations

Madagascar is an extremely rich natural environment with enormous biodiversity, among the highest in the world, yet these resources are threatened by harmful practices such as the use of wood collected from natural areas for heating and cooking. These practices contribute to the loss of primary forests and cause health problems linked to combustion methods, often involving use in enclosed and poorly ventilated spaces.

The CHAR:ME research project proposes a solution through the design of an alternative supply chain based on the recovery and transformation of local organic waste into solid fuels capable of replacing conventional fuels.

The project started in 2022 thanks to a grant funded through 5 per thousand IRPEF donations.
